6/12/2008As part of our gift to you for this Fathers' Day, we have posted the lyric to our song Fathers' Day below. You can still download the song for free here by entering this information: user-name: ladyclown password: dad Fathers' Day Sitting at home his conversation is internal and brief Stirring his tea, reading the paper in his daily routine There in his mind, what did he find? That he loved them more than he could show So he didn't ever let them know And another year would slip away With unspoken love on fathers' day Driving alone towards a life without the one who knows best Memories pursue then overcome him in this time to reflect Searching his mind, what did he find? That he loved him more than he had said So he told him now beside his bed And another life has slipped away But he's glad they shared this fathers' day Coming back home he longs for comfort in his children's embrace Hiding his tears behind the paper feels his heart start to press Clearing his mind, speaking this time I know I haven't made it clear But I love you boys and I love you dear And there's plenty more that I should say I thought I'd start with that today Life will run its course and find an end So to fathers' day I sing, my friend Have you woken up the love within Will you settle for what could have been? |

4/14/2008What A Party! We celebrated the release of "First Lady Clown" at our favorite NYC haunt, Arlene's Grocery this past weekend. The crowd of fans, friends, and family was amazing, and we extend special thanks to Howard and Trishka at Arlene's, and Claire for designing the awesome lights. We played all 12 songs from the new album, and partied late with those in attendance. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us. See you on May 22nd, if not sooner! -Ben and Geoff |

Hurray. Lady Clown presents First Lady Clown, their 12-song debut album, available right now. Benjamin Scheuer and Geoff Kraly composed and recorded the music on First Lady Clown over a one-year period. The album moves deftly from the winding portrait of broken leadership in 'Calling All Cars' to the shattering personal intimacy of 'Fathers' Day'. Benjamin explains, "I write theater, so elements of character, story, and performance inevitably crept in to the record, and probably also found their way in to the recording process. We set up an electrical jungle of cables, with microphones hanging from balconies, and the drum kit presiding over it all at the top of a flight of stairs." Geoff adds, "The name Lady Clown implies darkness just as easily as it implies humor. It can imply femininity as well as masculinity. Those two words together put something out there to have an effect on you, but they also invite your own unavoidable emotional reaction - which is yours and we have no control over." First Lady Clown can be purchased from www.ladyclown.com digitally as downloads, or ordered as a hard-copy. Enjoy! |
